Google Data Transfer Tool, a standard tool for copying files from one Android to another or from iOS to Android, is preparing to offer a way to copy your WhatsApp chats from your iPhone.
About Insights APK: In this “APK Insight” post, we’ve outlined the latest version of the app uploaded by Google to the Play Store. When we rearrange these files (called APKs, in the case of Android apps), we can see various lines of code in the clue about the possible future existence. Keep in mind that Google may or may not ever ship these features, and our interpretation of what may be imperfect. We will endeavor to allow those nearly finished, however, to show you how they would look if they were shipped. With that, read on.
Transfer WhatsApp chats from iOS to Android
One of the bigger disadvantages of WhatsApp is that you can only access your messages on one smartphone at a time. Even with the recently launched multi-device beta, which allows WhatsApp’s web and desktop apps to work while your phone is offline, the limitations of one smartphone still apply. Unfortunately this means there is no easy way to transfer your chats from one device to another if not Android or both iOS.
Android has a built-in device-to-device transfer application called “Data Recovery Tool”, which is used by the Android setup wizard to copy photos, applications, and files from one phone to another, including from iOS. With its recent launch to the Play Store, Data Recovery Tool received an update to version 1.0.382048734, which includes preparations to copy your WhatsApp chats & history from iPhone to Android phone.

Scan the QR code with your iPhone to open WhatsApp, then tap Start
Setting up chat
Make sure your iPhone is unlocked and WhatsApp is open
When you reach a new step, the Android Data Recovery Tool will show you a QR code, which you need to scan on the iPhone to launch directly to the next WhatsApp migration settings. As explained elsewhere in the app, the same settings can be achieved manually.
Problems scanning? On your iPhone, open WhatsApp, then go to Settings> Chat> Transfer Chat to Android
The option to transfer your WhatsApp chats from iOS to Android will likely not appear in the Data Recovery Tool until WhatsApp launches the new migration settings correctly. To that end, WABetaInfo has managed to see a transfer option in development, which means we may not have to wait long.
It’s certainly interesting to see WhatsApp make it easy to switch between Android and iOS, but direct integration from Google’s own tools raises another level.
